Isinay is derived from the prefix i meaning native , resident of, people of, and Sinai, a place believed to have been inhabited by the early people of northern Luzon. Isinay refers to a group of people who in Pre-Spanish period were considered homogenous and who at present occupied three municipalities of Nueva Vizcaya: Dupax Del Sur, Aritao, and Bambang.
